The Prathamakant handicrafts store is one of the oldest in town. I remember my first visit there in 1995. It definitively has the most diverse selection of local handmade goods ranging from silk and cotton to wood carvings and porcelain. Pricing has remained reasonable over the years and the staff is very friendly. When in downtown Khon Kaen looking for a souvenir this is the place to go.

You can find almost anything Thai here. I love the combined souvenir and clothing shop, and they always take 10% off for me. Most of their things are priced slightly higher than you can find elsewhere, but it's great to be able to find it all in one place. I bought a sweet antique sword for a great price here, and they have more now but the price is much higher now. Very happy service though and I recommend you take your shopping there at least once.
