Mueang Saraburi District, Thailand

I just wanted to add some more information about this place. We went camping at the campgrounds and while it was a bit crowded it was very enjoyable. When we got back I was looking at it again on Google Maps and for the first time I saw the Japanese WW2 Memorial. Being very interested and seeing that is was so close to the campground I decided that I had to go back and see it. So we did and my Thai girlfriend went to the visitors center to talk to the park rangers while I was outside looking at the large map. What she told me was a bit of a surprise. If you want to go there you have to hire one or two park rangers (I cannot remember now) at a cost of 500 Baht (sorry I cannot remember if that was one or for both). You have to leave at 8AM in the morning and you will reach the Memorial at about 12 noon! Yes it is located on the top of a mountain which was something I could not tell from Google Maps! It probably takes a little less time to get back down the mountain. They also said something about there being a bunker up there. Needless to say we did not go up there. So if you want to go there you need a Thai speaking person, I would take at least 1,000 Thai Baht, and probably best to stay at the campground the night before and make the reservations for going the next morning at 8AM. If you do go there could you please take and post some pics? I would really love to see just exactly is up there - good luck! (I am giving this 4 stars but actually I have not seen it, I just thought that what I learned might be useful for others). New update. You have to pay for (2) park officers to go up there with you. I guess that is in case something happens to one of them. So I guess the minimum cost for each park officer will be 500 Baht. And I forgot to mention that you can go camping up there too and I am guessing that will cost even more. Again best to sort it all out at the park office before going up there.
