The road to Somsak is open as of December 2020. You definitely need a 4x4 or capable motorcycle to get there. Not much at the mine but well maintained and nice. Sadly between my lack of Thai and no one there who speaks English I didn’t get any stories. Seems like a goal for Thai off readers.

Officially closed, Aunt Glenn is retired.
After many years open! Sadly this is now closed by the Military for private vehicles! As off 05/09/2020 it is now closed Local taxi service only which is liable to get stuck ! Apparently special permission maybe available, but these are NOT being giving ! Another restricted area ?!!!
Best place for long stay and away from something.
2nd visit just yesterday,since 7 years ago. Happy & impression still same previous time.
