It was told by the local that this place was King Taksin shipyard for preparing his campaign to re-established Ayutthaya kingdom by the help of local traders especially Chinese traders. Since 80's the part of some wood was found so that the archeology project started and the result was found 2 dry docks with some ship parts that preserved under the mud. So that there were built properly for reservation and for people can visit and study nearby also have King Taksin shrine for locals and everyone who interest come for pray. If you go further more to the river, there is one warship that was docked that was minesweeper ship that was meant to be another ship museum unfortunately about budget issued so that still not happen. But the history of her was she named HTMS Phosamton and attended in Naval parade during coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. We hopefully in future she will get repaired and do the museum.
A journey to get to, but if you're a fan of King Taksin it's worth it. There is a lot of history here. And a lot of cool Taksin merchandise for sale.
Great Historical Site for Thai's people.
Nice place to see a history part of Chanthaburi. There is some story that people believes it related to King Taksin. The Shrine of King Taksin with surrounding view is worth to pay a visit in the evening. Recommend to have dinner after, at Baan Rim Ao, not far from there.
