The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) is a regional intergovernmental organization established in 1965 among governments of Southeast Asian countries to promote regional cooperation in education, science, and culture in the region. As an organization that has continued to nurture human capacities and explored the peoples’ fullest potential, the SEAMEO maintains its work and aspirations for development with people of the region to make lives better in quality and equity in education, preventive health education, culture and tradition, information and communication technology, languages, poverty alleviation and agriculture and natural resources. The SEAMEO Regional Centre for STEM Education (SEAMEO STEM-ED) aims to develop, maintain and continuously strengthen capacities in STEM education, serving as regional knowledge repository and creator through high quality research in STEM education both in Thailand and within the SEAMEO region in a way that builds evidence of good practices, experiments and demonstrates pragmatic solutions, and guides effective policy formulation and capacity building of policymakers, professionals, and practitioners. SEAMEO STEM-ED’s mission consists of: - Advocating evidence-based policy research in STEM education and providing policy recommendations. - Developing the capacity of educational personnel and policymakers. - Enriching regional STEM learning units by leveraging existing resources. - Building networks and partnerships of policymakers, professionals, practitioners, and private sectors.
