This is the only transport option as far as I know between Pai and Chiang Mai without paying way more for a private taxi. We rode in 2 vans to and from Pai. The van is comfortable and fits about 10 people. There is enough space, aircon worked well, and there is 1 scheduled rest stop half way (don’t expect to find good food at the rest stops). The first ride our driver was rude and ended up yelling at 3 girls in the van that tried telling the driver they had to use the bathroom before the scheduled rest stop. He eventually stopped at a gas station but got kinda scary and didn’t speak any English. On our 2nd ride, we were about 20 minutes late arriving because our driver decided to stop at a couple random street stalls for groceries along the route. He didn’t say anything to us, just parked and exited the van, made his purchases, and returned a few minutes later.

DONT TAKE THIS BUS TO PAI !!!! The ride to Pai was terrible, the driver drove the bus like a racecar and its not worth a penny to risk your life. He was always too fast, more than double the speed limit and he was overtaking by as dangerous marked bends over 4 cars. The tyres were screeching a lot because of the speed and it’s not fun, just unnessesery risk. he was overtaking in blind corners and tailgating. Rude Driver!! You should rather take the plane from chiang Mai or rent a car/bike

Cheap, Reliable with timing and organised, but some of drivers going to and from Pai - Chiang Mai are on a mission to set a new record by road. The roads are bendy and steep and the drivers go full throttle. Have experienced passengers on both occasions requesting an emergency stop as they were feeling sick.

Took a Bus from Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son/Wat Tam Wua and unfortunately left my wallet at a bus stop. The bus driver not only arranged that they looked and actually found the wallet at the stop, he actually organized that the next bus picks it up and brings it to me! The bus ride itself was also really good and the customer service via Facebook and Email is quick and helpful.
