This is not in anyway a sanctuary and the “royal” in name does not imply anything to do with the Thai royal support. Quite dreadful and needs to be avoided rather than support with visits

What an experience of a life time. It's free entry and 50 baht for the food to feel the elephants.
An elephant sanctuary/farm. These elephants go to work when hired for special occasions (when the king visits, Songkran, weddings) and for rides around the city for tourists. I can’t say much to how well they treat the animals. The trainers definitely use a bit of negative reinforcement (sickle) to train the elephants and make sure they are in line. Overall they seemed happy. It’s also free to enter and encouraged to buy some corn or fruit for the elephants.
Baby elephants and they are all taken very good care of.
Must visit and see!!!
