The main part of the museum has both English and Thai exhibit descriptions though the English is not always the best translation of the Thai but you get the general gist of things. There is a separate openair section in the back that has many real example exhibits of archeological/archetecture ruins/fragments/artifacts exhibit e.g. lentils, pedestals and pedements, which come from many archeological sites in the region, not just Phimai. Ideal for people who have a sincere interest in archaeology and who want to pay a visit to the museum with the actual Historical Park not too far from here, they'll probably not ideal for people with short attention spans or young kids who have no interest in reading or learning.

I've been to many Thai National Museums and can without a doubt say this is one of the best. Tons of English. Tons of beautiful artifacts. Well worth a long visit.

The Phimai Historic museum is a nicely done one, showing a lot of artefacts digged out in Khorat province. History goes back in this area at least 3000 years. Most parts of the exhibition are from the Khmer city of Phimai, which was a major center in their empire. In the open air section you find a lot of building parts from the temple area. There steles with Khmer carvings, but no translations either in Thai or English. The museum is not made for wheelchair or buggies.
