Wonderful experience. We did a lot of research beforehand and ended up learning about them and booking our tour through Elephant Nature Park which is like the umbrella group that coordinates tours. The staff was really great and gentle with the elephants. When we went there were two adults and one baby. It's a 8am - 4pm all day journey. Totally worth it!

We had a lovely day out here. The elephants were well treated and not made to do anything against their will. Our two-year-old discovered that elephants are much more intimidating in real life than in cartoons, but she has talked about it excitedly for days afterwards anyway. Our guide, Bancha, was a great source of information and shared a lot of details about Karen culture. Do bear in mind that the full day may be a bit much for very little ones (and also for parents on carrying duty!).The eating area is a good shady place to have a nap though, should that be necessary.

Incredible experience with three beautiful elephants and their humans. Elephant tourism is such a complex issue but if you are looking for one of the most ethical ways to interact with these majestic beasts, you've come to the right place.

This rating is related to the Karen Elephant Serenity project being part of the Elephant Nature Park: First: we can just totally recommend this experience full of respect and love for the elephants. It was just a fantastic trip. We have been introduced into the world of elephants in Thailand and good to know a lot of great people and three lovely elephants. The guidance has been very respectful and how the elephants habe been treated was just very inspiring. Only by using words the elephants have been asked to join for bathing ... no pushing no hooks as it has been described in different ratings. Organization: food (fantastic vegan papaya salad, pad thai and further local food) and beverage supply during the day, shower after the bath with the elephants... has been extremely smoothly.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE to play with elephants in an ethical way

I highly recommend Karen Elephant Serenity for the intimate, relaxed setting in such a beautiful location to ethically observe a small, loving herd of elephants. I was picked up promptly from my hotel in Chiang Mai and the drive was comfortable and pleasant. The interactions between Heng Heng, her mom, and her nanny were indescribable and sure to melt any heart. With the state of elephant tourism in the region, projects like these that are supported by Elephant Nature Park are showing a terrific, non-interaction alternative that's beneficial to all involved - elephants, tourists, and mahouts alike. On that note, the mahout and guide were incredibly kind, the photography from the visit is terrific, and the food was delicious. I hope to come back one day for sure.
