10/10, 5* experience! I would highly recommend Free Dive Koh Tao to anyone who wants the best experience from start to finish. When you are learning free diving, one of the most important aspects is having the best teachers. Tom one of the co-owners was outstanding! So professional, knowledgeable and an extremely excellent free diver. Moreover, Tom is so kind, compassionate, patient, and helpful throughout my entire trip and course. Tom started with a free online video call to help teach me the equalization techniques before I even arrived on Koh Tao. Tom pre-arranged all the correct sizing of equipment beforehand. When I arrived, we met up the evening before the course so he could give me a debrief. Tom as a teach is amazing. Tom explains things so easily to help you improve and master what you need to learn. Tom taught me how to hold my breath for over 3 minutes and dive to a depth of 20m which exceed my expectations fully. Most importantly Tom showed me all the good food spots on the island! I will definitely be doing my AIDA Level 3 course with Tom and Free Dive Koh Tao.

Had a fantastic 3 day course with Tom. Went deeper than I ever dreamed of! Tom’s approach is extremely well structured and he can seemesly adapt to each of his students (small groups) to yield best results. We’ve finished AIDA 2 course, and also learned how to perform blackout rescue

We had a really great time with Tom and Tommy in the past 2 months. Tom has a good feeling for understanding the individual needs of new students and tailored specific schedules for our way from beginners all the way up to AIDA 3 and 4. We always felt welcome and understood. Tom always tries to make you feel as comfortable as possible during the course and provides you with the newest scientific research about freediving - an approach we highly appreciated. It was a really nice journey and we really fell in love with freediving. Thanks for the good time!

THANK YOU to all of you who write and read reviews. Because of what I gathered from Tom’s previous students, I got to experience an incredible teacher / coach, a fun and funny personality, and a wonderful human being who also just happens to be a very competent yet humble freediving athlete. I spent 2 transformational months here completing AIDA 2, 3, and 4. Going in unable to equalize past 3 meters, with a general apprehension of being in water – I had goals for myself that I shared with Tom, and he drew up a training plan for us that not only supported a steep improvement in my performance, but one that allowed for sufficient rest / recovery time, and flexibility for those extra days off I requested following a late evening enjoying the beautiful island with new friends :) I got to spend much time observing how Tom watches and listens to his students; it is true that he teaches to the individual. He is somehow able to see and bring out capabilities of each person, and give effective feedback / advice / instruction on how to overcome their unique challenges -- and always with an uplifting, encouraging, and fun attitude! I’ll always remember those pleasant, positive feelings on my dives with Tom. Especially this one particular deep dive, I opened my eyes and saw him right there on the other side of the line – man, that deep sense of safety and calm I felt. And the genuine happiness reflected back at me after doing recovery breaths at the surface with him following a clean, personal best dive… Tom, thank you for all those precious, invaluable experiences! Ben, Tommy… also both wonderful Freedive Koh Tao teachers who I had such good times diving with and learned a lot from – thank you guys!!!

I warmly recommend Freedive Koh Tao! I took the AIDA 2 course as a total beginner with Tom. I never tried freediving before. Tom was a great instructor because he made me feel confident from the beginning, listened to me a lot, answered my numerous questions and provided advice which was really personalized. I really liked his approach which was to focus on body sensations rather than on how long you stay or how deep you go underwater. It sounded like a healthy view to me and made me improve my self-awareness, which is a useful takeaway. Thanks to this quality coaching, I could go much further than I was imagining before starting. I left with a huge smile and eager to come back!

My partner and I went for the AIDA 2 course with Tom and I could not have been happier. We had the most amazing week ever. Even though my partner had difficulties with equalizing deeper than a couple of meters, especially going down head first, which she wasn't able to do at first. Tom were were good and pedagogical and together with Tommy they managed to solve her equalization problem. We were really impressed with the attention we received from Tom individually, on land, in the pool and in the sea, since we were at different stages of freediving and therefore required different/individualized guidance and instructions. Thank you so much! After having read the reviews on all agencies on the island I decided to go for this one with Tom. Regardless of which one you choose, the most important thing is that you get along with, or click with your instructor. Secondly, I was told that for those who want to go deeper into the subject of freediving, then AIDA and Molchanovs are the best ones. Maybe because of the higher requirements on instructs as compared to SSI, PADI, and the other schools.
