This place was palace, now is used as police museum. If you expect the splendid palace like Emerald temple and Grand Palace, you are disappointed. However this place is very quiet and peaceful. When you don’t mind your limited travel time, I recommend this Police museum and former palace.

Pridi Hengsadeekul

A fomer palace of Kind Rama v’s brother, now a police museum. Art nouveau is a rare type of architecture in Thailand, this place absolutely kills! Great architecture motifs with interesting history. The content of the museum is not much but the palace is really beautiful. Not usually open for public, if there is a chance for you to visit, do not miss it. Admission is free, and there are parking lots nearby.

The place shows history of itself, included arts and architecture. But this place required to take off your shoes before getting inside.

I visited during their open house which would be an annual event in either July or December of each year. It was quite a pleasant tour of the palace. Only one mansion was open to public and I was sure that would give any visitor an instant impression. The palace was designed in the interior by blending major european architectures together. Each room would be decorated to reflect each style. My most loved was the audience hall with rococo style. It was very stately just like mansion in Europe. Thai monarchy at that time bore in mind the importance of modernizing the land to avoid the colonialism. And it was seen so evidently at this palace. This was very european.
