After 13 years in Chiang Mai : I highly recommend visiting any police station with a thai. both language and cultural problems can be expected. this police station covers events happening in their district. if you have a traffic accident in mae Hia for example, you need to visit another station. As a general rule, you should always consult a lawyer if you are involved in a police case! Never sign a document you do not understand!

Chiang mai, you should feel ASHAMED of your police system. Even the local people feel the same too. You want the money from the tourist? Make a reasonable and fair system, or your method to fine tourists is so dirty and harm your tourism also.
