They had a three month old when we visited in January 2020 and he was very cute and very active - tried to push over a few and liked splashing in mud, water and running down the hill. We took the full day option from a tour spot in Chang Mai. Recommend taking a warm shirt in the morning as it is chilly at 8 am in a no-window car. We took a stop for breakfast and once we got to the sanctuary we had a list of things to do. First, we made vitamin bowls for the elephants from the dairy is so fruits and materials that were not available for them in the region. We also got dressed in uniform clothes. Elephants can only see yellow blue black and white which is why we were all dressed to identically us to give them the association that we were good, no harm, lots of food. We then fed the animals had lunch yourself and went for mud baths and into the river to watch the elephants afterwards. That was basically it, followed by a trip to the waterfall.

I absolutely loved chaing mai elephant sanctuary. The care the take after the animals is second to none. Getting up close and personal with them was so amazing. Loved every minute of it and the staff were good fun easy going and very friendly. Place is well kept and clean and the food is lovely. A fantastic experience and memories I'll cherish.

This was probably the best experience on our travels. They really do care for the elephants here. You can make up some vitamins for them, learn about them and even bathe them in the mud and the river. I will never forget this!!

Absolutely amazing experience. Do not support elephant riding or any of that nonsense. These guys take care of the elephants they rescue. We got to feed and bathe the elephants all while we learned about them. Definitely would do this again.

Its only not PRIVATE OPERATED elephant sanctuary, as others... If you decide to do the tour, this people would do thier best to make you happy and enjoy your visit... I been with couple friends and we all have Very nice time and some beautiful memories... Goi the tour master was very nice and we all did learn a few things we didnt know before... Like elephant can see only 4 colours, difference beetween male and female is that makes have tusks... Also that is truth that elephant is afraid from smaller creatures like mouse or a dog... We spend some time prepering some food, learn some stuff and later have some mud bath and later cleaning in some cold river, but it was great fun all togheter... Later you have some lunch and some visit to near by waterfall for some more swimm and refreshment... Half day tour went fast and we returned back to hotel after hour and half drive... Would do it again... I recommend all whom decide to do the tour to TRY with this guys as They always need some help... As small baby elephant cost like 2 millions baht or 65 000 euro... So they dont own them, just take care of them... All in all beautiful expirience HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
