* Terminal 1 - Chiangrai Bus - Old Station Don't worry. It's no longer a dirt lot. It's actually a real bus terminal now. There's also a tourist information office inside. The White Temple - take the old blue minibus at platform #8 (says 'White Temple' on side). Driver will drop you near Honda. Catch the minibus back in front of Latisha House, opposite 7-11. (Yes, Green Bus stops there too. No, they won't give you a lift. Nice try.) The Black House / Ban Dam Museum - take the old green minibus from platform #5 (says Mae Sai). Driver will drop you at Bangkok Hospital. Catch the minibus back from the little shady spot opposite 7-11. Or wait in front of 9 Cafe. Minibus arrived at 17:28.(once every hour?) To take the FREE Chiang Rai temple tour mini bus, sign up at the tourist information office behind the King Mengrai Monument at 9 am or 1 pm. Yes. There is a big purple bus that goes to Bus Terminal 2 and to the Chiangrai Airport. (I didn't ride it.) Yes. There's a 3 Baht pay toilet inside the terminal. (that also does left luggage) Give the nearby Halal place a try. They seem.to sell a lot of ice cream?

Central location, within walking distance to Night Bazaar. Songthaew to Bus Terminal 2 at Baht20 but need to wait. Bus to Phayao at Baht66 and to Chiang Klong (for Houay Xai of Laos) at Baht65.

Perfectly choreographed organised chaos, Thai style. Love it.

Buses depart from here while the other terminal is under construction. Hard to navigate, all dirt and mud, barely anything is labeled, no bathroom. Also filled with tuk-tuk and songthaew drivers that will relentlessly harangue you to ride with them as soon as you are in earshot--par for the course in Thailand yes, but particularly bad here. Hopefully that renovation is done soon.

A bomb crater that is usually flooded. Wear suitable shoes and be prepared to have to carry your bags and suitcases.
