actually embassy located on the main road.
As of 2018 there is a new embassy building for visa processing just down the road from the main embassy. There is a metal bar door, not very obvious but there should be a line forming from 8am. When we were admitted at 8:30am and given a ticket, there was time to fill in the form and wait for the counters to open at 9am. The counters opened late but the speed was quite reasonable once the got going. Tourist Visa can be ready same or next day for extra cost. It 2150baht for next day. You need a photocopy of your passport which is possible to get done at the old Embassy building. Also need two passport photos.
Can apply for visa only in the morning & collection only in the afternoon. Need copy of passport & 2 photos. Process was not too long, made demand in the morning and got it in the afternoon. There was a mistake on my visa, and they reissued a new one on the spot.
