The Milk Run and the Rice Run are projects started by Sister Joan Evans who lived in Klong Toei slum between 1991 and 2016. Sister Joan is a member of the Presentation Sisters of Western Australia. Milk Run has been done on every other Friday since 1992 making it one of the longest ongoing NGO efforts in Thailand. It provides quality baby milk formula to mothers who can't breastfeed their babies. Milk Run starts every other Friday at 7 am and is done by 10:30 am On Fridays when there is no Milk Run, Sister Joan started the Rice Run program that provides food to local seniors over 60 years old, most of them living alone. The Rice Run takes place at the same location, every other Friday between 4:00 and 5:30 pm. Both programs are a great opportunity to assist the needy and get a glimpse into life in Thailand that most westerners never get to see.
