You will be amazed at the art and the scale of construction. If ruins look so majestic and beautiful, imagine how the buildings and Wats would have looked like in their prime time. Lot of walking involved if you are enthusiastic for the beautiful ruins. To appreciate the art, read some history and Understand various building styles and constructions like stupa, chedi, phrang etc. Understand, respect and follow all local customs.

A busy temple with interesting historic ruins. But there are still animals sold for merit release, water in all ponds with fish and turtle are apparently not clean and many animals are in poor condition.

With a little imagination you can relive history reaching back many hundreds of years. I am quite happy being there alone. Try it.
