Unfortunately it's a bit of a building site at the moment. A lot of repair work going on, but sure it'll be fine when finished

South Gate. The Phimai City Gate and City Walls were built during the reign of King Chaiworaman VII. Out of the 3 remaining gates the “Southern Gate” is most important because the road from the ancient Khmer capital to Phimai runs through it. The sanctuary can be seen when looking straight through the gate. The most special characteristic of the Phimai sanctuary is that it is the only one that faces south while the others usually face east. This is probably because it was built to face the route that the Khmers traveled from the capital of the empire, to the south of Phimai. The South Gate at Prasat Phimai is often referred to as: “Pratu Chai – Victory gate”. ピマーイ遺跡の南門。他にも北と西に門が残っていますが、池のある広いスペースもあるし、門の先、正面にピマーイ遺跡本体も見えるし、一番見栄えが良い門です。
