Definitely a good place to go when you want to learn about Kung-Fu, it's Philosophy and Lifestyle. I've been only here for a week but I have still learned a lot in that short time. Kung-Fu is way more than just a martial art and you will discover that. Food and accommodation is simple, but I liked that. They try to grow the majority of the food within the garden of the retreat which is great! Most trainers are very enthusiastic about what they do and will be more than happy to help you on your way. On the down side the retreat is very expensive relative to Thailand. Keep in mind that you will also need to rent a scooter/bike for the time you're there as the resort is to far away from the city. Additional expenses are daily lunch and the 2 free days during the week. I would recommend that you book for a shorter period and see from there if that's your thing and you're really into it.I

I took the Chi Kung teacher training program at Nam Yang in February 2020. Master Ian is a great teacher, and his instructors provide excellent training. The resort is situated on a beautiful mountain plateau in Pai, Thailand that has great energy, and makes the training enjoyable.

I spent a month here, my body and mind are extremely happy that I did so - I have so much more strength, flexibility, discipline, poise... it's really well worked out, a great balance of hard work and comfort, healthy delicious food, excellent friendly culture, brilliant instructors, Master Iain's deep gentle wisdom and his knowledge and abilities of hardcore fighting skills... in a really lovely setting it's close to Pai, so you have the choice to engage in all that place has to offer. Pai is fairly touristy, in a lo-fi hippy-around-the-edges way, which means lots of restaurants, excellent massages, everything is super easy to organise, also lots of nearby attractions like the hot springs (v useful for sore bodies...) highly highly recommended

I have just completed 5 weeks at the Nam Yang Kung Fu retreat and had to share my amazing life changing experience. Yes the accomodation is simple but you soon get use to that and its part of the whole experience of going back to basic. The location of the retreat is simply breath taking and the views and sounds you wake up to each morning will stay with you forever. Most people hire Moped to get around but if like me your thats not your thing you can walk into town ( approx 30 mins) or get a taxi (approx 2 each way) Pai itself is the coolest town with an amazing vibe and you will find everything you need. By far the best thing about Nam Yang are the instructors and Master Iain, You really do become part of a little Kung Fu Family. I am no spring chicken and far from being a gym bunny so dont be put off by the amount of training, Trust me your body will thank you for it. This place will not only get you physically fitter but it will change your mindset, If you embrace the whole experience it is life changing and for me the best decision I have made in a long time

The real deal. A lot to learn, many benefits, true hearted people. Be prepared to work out at least 35 hours per week, plus do get the introductory class (costs extra) the first week you are there.

Absolutely loved my time at Nam yang, I lost 14 kilos in two weeks, I was fortunate enough to make some life long friends and I learned how to do kung-fu. I highly recommend recommend Nam-yang to any one looking for something different, you can party your whole vacation, or you can do something life changing and learn kung-fu.
