The security guard wouldn’t let us in and instead told us to call. We called and that employee referred us to another number with a recording in Chinese, but only after teasing/harassing me for not understanding much Chinese. So we’re here with no answers to our questions, with no help from any employees.

The Consulate offers a fast and friendly service with little waiting time and lots of friendly smiles aswell as advices from the ladies working behind the big glassened security office. Procedure for Visa appliances: If you visit the consulates website you may download the 5 pages of the application to fill up and have the Visa specific photos done which will safe you a lot of time when you arrive at the Consulate. Inside the visa office is a large table with pens and tape where you can fill up or correct your application. Open between 09-11h30 to deposit your files and between 15-16h00 to get your Passport back, it generaly takes between 3-4 days for a Visa to be ready and cost around -1600bth/pers. for a 2 month tourist visa. To be noted that the Consulate offers the possibility to sit down on their garden terrasse and enjoy the shade of the trees while waiting for your turn. As visitors cars and motobikes are not allowed inside the compound you can easiy find a parking space at the computer mall right behind the Consulate. Always usefull is to prepare at least 1 photocopie of each single document as they don't do that service but they might ask you to attach one. *See on the attached photo some usefull informations concerning the exact format of portrait picture requierd and a Brief introduction of Chinese Visa in 5 pages Usefull adresses for Photocopies & Visa photos 1. Photocopies find on Google Map the adresse: 1,50 Nantaram Rd, Tambon Hai Ya, Amphoe Mueang Chiang Mai 50100. (500m away) There right before RInn Boutique is a professional photocopy shop. 2. Photos for Visa, look on Google Map for: Photo Bug or D Prom both on Chang Phuak Rd.

Got my Chinese working visa in 7 days, the lady in the embassy was very friendly and gave me lots of information about applying working visa. The security guy checked everything if my form is completely filled in and I have all the correct documents for working visa. And luckily the Chinese working visa for UK citizens cost 1100B, very cheap! If you are going to apply for a Chinese visa, you need to double check which documents do you need for your visa, otherwise they will turn you away. Reasons why I am seeing negative reviews and bad experiences haha.

I The staffs play games with you. I'm on an ED visa in Thailand for a year, which is to say, a Non \O\ visa. It's proof I'm not tourist. I provided them with an invitation letter from my friend in China, and a copy of their Identification. To make things clearer I also photocopied every page of my passport that have stamps/visas, provided my authentication letter from school. Everything to prove I'm not a tourist in Thailand. They tried hard to persuade me not to apply for a visa. I have a passport that gives me 15 days visa free entry to China. However my visit is planned for 28 days. I did the right thing by applying for a visa well in advance. But they kept asking me to just visit for 15 days, or go to China to extend my visa. When I refused and asked them what I have done incorrectly in my application, they refused to say. They were just grinning like idiots. I repeatedly asked for a reason why I couldn't apply here when the website stated clearly non tourist foreigners could apply. Even the notice at the consulate's entrance said so. They refused to give a reason. I have every reason to believe they refused my application without a valid reason since they didn't explicitly say o\, but rather, kept telling me to go Bangkok or use an agent. The staff that served me is a pregnant Thai lady. She's unprofessional and the first course of action is to redirect people to agents. Kind of suspicious. All in all, beware of this consulate. Ps. Under no circumstances do I believe this represents China. I've been to China multiple times and received nothing but the best from the immigrations personnel. They are reasonable, well mannered, and helpful. The woman I unfortunately met here is not enough reason for me never to visit China again.
