If you go to Chiang Mai, Thailand, Hug Elephant Santuary cannot be missed. It's more than 2 hours from the city and a whole day can be spent with the humble giants. Would recommend booking online and carry clothes to change and trekking shoes. They provide pick up and drop facility from your location. The guide briefs you about the whole day activity and gives sugarcane to feed the elephants. All the elephants of different sizes are taken good care of, they are clean and fed well. We can go on a walk with them and feed them, followed by bathing them with mud and water. Also the guide takes you to a waterfall , a small gift is given to everyone as a memory. They provide food and water (unlimited), beer. Food is prepared by the locals and is delicious. Elephants are the most humble, friendly, clever, beautiful, loving, mischievous giants.

Fantastic place in a beautiful location. Quite apparent that they love their animals. Great lunch also.

One of the best elephant sanctuary’s I have ever been too. They take so good care of the elephants, the humble giants are well rested, groomed, fed and love humans. They love getting a bath and rubbed by dirt. The staff are well trained, professional and friendly. The sanctuary is 2 hours plus from chi and mai city, they send a truck to pick you up, lunch is provided along with sugar cane to feed the elephants. It’s better to book on line on their website. It’s a whole day thing and is enough.

The best Elephant sanctuary i had ever experience in my life. This sanctuary is really worth it! I love the way they treat the elephants very caring & loving. I enjoyed bathing with the elephants. The guide was very friendly and informative. I got to learn so many things about the elephants culture & background. 100% Ethical Elephant Camp!!! The whole experience was really very positive.

It is not a sanctuary! It is a regular business. For 1700 bats you will spend 50 minutes with elephants because they have 3 groups a day. Elephants don't want to bath 3 times a day, but they are pushed to do so as the tourists need attractions. The guide tells a bunch of lies, for example that they only tie elephants for feeding, but it was not a feeding time and they were just holded for another tourist group. Just look on the photo...
