I'm taking intensive Thai classes online. Compared to other language courses I have taken, Mind Your Language focuses more on practical application and more on repetition. The course is about 20% new sentence structures or new words and 80% conversation, where you practice again and again with words you have learned (even from a few months ago). The teacher is very patient, with humour but also professional: always correcting mistakes without judging. He explains the difference between formal and informal Thai, we practice mostly with informal Thai (like sometimes using an L instead of an R and dropping the pronouns; as this is how most Thai actually speak). He uses his own material, it can use some refinement, but what I like is that it builds vocabulary by category (many books focus on a dialogue and then eg you learn only the Thai words for 3 jobs, so you are directly stuck if reality is a bit different from the dialogue. Here you learn 30 jobs; same with dishes, drinks, locations, vegetables etc). In short: very recommended. You will learn Thai that you can actually use.

Hello All at MYL School !! Thanks for the fantastic time learning thai language. The school has all amenities needed, ofering coffee, tea and water and looks very organized with nice training means (clarrooms, books, free wifi useful for breaks, etc). The staff is friendly and polite and always ready to help you. I had lunch nearby the school daily (street food....aroi makk!!). The classes are very straigth forward concerning daily life subjects which are motivating for all students and the method used based on repetitions until we get the right tone is very usefull and also very enjoyable (rian passat thai sanook krup !!). WE really enjoy to have teacher Mind giving us this course. This young gentleman is professional, gentle, motivate the students, know how to listen and use several methods to teach, he demostrates, he makes questions, he explain how and why and recap everyday in the morning the highligths of the previous day and does the same in the end of each day. This is great to position and focus the students to learn. Thank to you Khruu Mind, I really enjoy to learn thai language with you. Keep going !! I will came back soon to have level 2 course. For the ones who want to learn thai language this is the place. I had some private lessons before in Hua Hin and I enjoyed it but this course is really the best choice to learn along taking nice holidays. Samui Island is also a very nice place to rest !! I’m studying at MYL school for 2 months already and I really enjoy it so far! The educational process seemed to be too intense at first. We had to repeat phrases in Thai again and again until the face muscles refuse to work. I was overwhelmed with new information and I thought I would never handle learning Thai. However after the third lesson I realised that my pronunciation was much better and I already could compose different phrases to make a dialogue. I became confident and started to speak with Thai people little by little. Jom’s educational method really works wonders! Besides getting the good learning results I also have fun time on Jom’s classes. We joke, speak in a fun manner, make fun of each other and always support a speaker if they have troubles with giving a correct answer during our group classes. With this course you’ll get all the basics you need to communicate with Thai people in the daily life. I highly recommend this course to everyone who wants to get confidence in speaking Thai.
I signed up for the 2 Weeks to Speak and couldn't have been happier with the experience and the results. The methods used by Jom and co. definitely work. The focus is on repetition and combining words to form sentences, turning questions into answers and vice versa. Training your mouth to make the sounds and endlessly repeating those sounds is the only way of grasping a tonal language so it makes perfect sense. This method of teaching combined with Jom's incredible energy, passion and humour is second to none. Jom's colleague Bow also taught and practised with us so we were able to hear a different voice and pronunciations further preparing us for understanding outside the classroom. The class size is kept small, there were 6 of us in total, so we each got lots of practice in speaking which helped us progress quickly and as a team. Every day we would learn new sentence structures and add to our vocabulary as well as practise what we had already learnt on previous days so nothing would get forgotten. The course is indeed intense however it is also a lot of fun and the hours pass quickly. I would recommend learning as much vocabulary as possible beforehand to get the most out of the actual classes. I had learnt a few words and numbers before starting but the course really enabled me to start putting these random words together to create sentences and begin communicating properly. It has made all the difference to my confidence and to my Thai neighbours and friends! In short; great teaching, lovely people! I highly recommend this course if you are planning to spend a while in Thailand.
I recently began the online Italian lessons with Chiara, and I can totally recommend them! We have a very small group (maximum six) so we are able to work together easily as a team, but also get the one on one time we need. Chiara is always happy to answer questions after class, and the courseware is fun and engaging. Even if you have never studied Italian before you can begin now. I had no experience at all but feel I have learnt so much in just a few weeks. Thanks Chiara!
