Khlong Tan Train market here underneath bridge on North side of Phetchaburi Rd. daily. Has few sellers selling typical fruit, vegetables, other items on Monday to Saturday. On Sunday, market expands vastly. It goes to the West almost to Khlong Tan Train station; and to the East for 200m. On Sundays a good variety of fresh fruit & veg, herbs, chilies, etc. available, along with fresh fish, some shell fish, amphibians, fried/dried insects, and bulk meats (o.k. pork and chicken, and poor quality beef all at low prices); a variety of prepared foods & dishes to eat there or for take away; cheap clothing, cheap plastic housewares, lots of 20-50 Baht items (everything from lighters to dish and laundry detergents to bungee cords). Also some dried spices, jarred Thai sauces & condiments as well as some Thai ointments & cheap medical items (various fitted compression bandages for example). This market is mostly for the local neighbourhood. There are much better markets (cleaner, better organized, more choices and higher quality) around Bangkok. However, the prices here are lower than the grocery stores (Foodland Phetchaburi is right next door). Other street food vendors hang out just outside the South side of the market on Sunday mornings as well. Frequently on Sunday mornings, vendors in pickup trucks with high sided cargo backs will stop by on the North side of the street selling fresh produce at very low prices (sometimes they will sell out in minutes). There's no set time or Sunday date for these truck vendors, but if they do appear it's usually when the market is packed between 07:30 and 10:30 a.m. If you go there on a Sunday, get there early! Opens at 06:00 (or earlier as some vendors are set up between 05:00 and 05:30); by 07:00 the place is crowded, and by 11:00 most of the stuff has sold.
