I ranked this one of the most mysterious and hardest to get to temple I have ever been in my life. This temple situated high up in the mountains of the Khitchakut National Park in Chanthaburi, only opens to the public about 2 months in a year probably due to its difficulty to get there by any visitors. Currently, the only way to get up to the temple is by taking a 4x4 vehicle ride to the half way point and then walk the rest of the way up by climbing perhaps over 1 thousand steps crossing gauges and deep valleys. The journey itself is exhilarating and definitely not for the weak as it will take you about an hour or more just to track up these steep steps. Human carried sedan chairs is available for a fee for those who are unable to climb these on their own. The mysterious Buddha's footprint rock can be found on top of the mountain where devotees will pay their yearly homage with offerings . A truly once in a lifetime wonderful experience and definitely ranked amongst the best religious tourists location in the world in my books. Highly recommended.

This place was awesome! It’s a bit of walk to the top tho. About house. You have to pay for car to drive you up which is 100 baht per a person. And entrance is 100 baht too for foreigners and 20 baht for thais

What makes this special is the elevation. Being the highest Temple in Thailand is the reason why I went to visit. It was a standard experience for me, nothing stood out as being exceptionally good or bad. Seems they have been making improvements here every year. The steps to the top were developed more than previous years. On the way to the top in the truck there were people wetting the road to keep the dust down. If you’re in the area I recommend visiting, however, it is a long drive from Bangkok and other common tourist places to go just to see this. I also disagree with the two-price scheme they enforce here. 20 for Thais and five times that at 100 for foreigners. Hard to justify the foreign price when nothing is written in English and nobody can speak English. THREE STARS (Good) Standard example of a tourist attraction .

The spiritual and respect from Buddhist all over Thailand more than million peoples/year go to Buddha footprints. If U come from Bangkok need to spend time more than 10 hours to finish all mission. Honestly its very interesting to see huge of calm buddhism went here with donate all the way. Once go to the top and pray for themself or their family, you still see the trust and good culture.

The Khao Khitchakut pilgrimage is one of the more incredible experiences I have had in Thailand. The very early in the morning ride up the mountain by 4WD truck, the two stations full of worshippers, many Buddha statues and monks in attendance. The final walking trail to the top of the mountain, strewn with yellow flower petals. The multiple shrines all the way up to the mountain peak, the Buddhas, footprint. I remember almost passing out on the mountain top, but then the rain fell and I was revived. The trip back down the mountain as surreal as the trip up. Always surrounded by large numbers of people, a very special experience. My advice: attend with a Thai family, if you are not friends at the beginning of this journey, you will be friends for life by the time it is finished.
